Water Pods as an Alternative to Reverse Osmosis Units

Aquapax Client Case Study

PROBLEM FACED BY THE CLIENT

A top tier mining client was developing a new mine site and wanted to find an alternative to an expensive Reverse Osmosis Unit as a means to provide for their drinking water needs on site and in their crib rooms.

Reverse Osmosis Units (RO Units) are not an ideal solution when it comes to providing safe drinking water on remote sites.

  • RO units need to be designed specifically for the site’s ground water characteristics.
  • RO units have a high initial capital outlay.
  • RO units have high ongoing variable maintenance and running costs.
  • Quality assurance (water testing) is almost impossible in real time with RO.
  • RO units can introduce more hazards to the workplace.
  • RO units are fixed infrastructure. They need to be installed close to the water source and lack portability.

SOLUTION PROVIDED BY AQUAPAX

The AP1000 Water Pods are non-fixed infrastructure with the only requirement being a level, stable surface for them to be situated and some simple inexpensive plumbing. Aquapax water pods can be considered a water source – just the same as a water tank. However, the packaging is what sets it apart. This is due to the water being stored within a bladder which is an oxygen and UV light free environment – ensuring the water retains the all the qualities of premium micro filtered, UV and electrolytically treated West Australian Spring Water.
